Andrew Bovell is one of Australia’s foremost playwright’s and we are thrilled to bring his masterpiece Speaking in Tongues to Sydney once again after a 6 year hiatus.
“Loves not like that. If you love someone, you know it. If you don’t, you know it. I mean, a lot of people kid themselves. A lot of people let love slip into habit. But the truth’s the truth and everybody knows theirs.”
Two couples set out to betray their partners to fill an empty void. A therapist gets stuck and attempts to call the one person she trusts. One long lost lover grapples to come to terms with losing the woman who made him feel special.
This gripping drama runs parallel with a mystery, and we meet nine characters searching for meaning and purpose. Do they find it? Or do they find something else?
Crikey.com rated Speaking in Tongues A+ stating “It’s possibly the best Australian play in a generation or two, a must-see, one with which we can step proudly into the theatrical world.”
Be sure to catch one of the countries most loved stories on the stage again.
Directed by Jake Ludlow, with performances by Elsa Cherlin, Simon Thomson, Josie Waller & Dale William Morgan.
